Monday May 13, 2024
Monday May 13, 2024
SEASON TWO FINALE!
WM Carter (1868-1936) was a cornerstone of Lewisburg and Marshall County during his life time. In this episode, hosted by Teneal Alexander, Yareli Rosales, Caroline McNutt, Gracie Stephens, and Lyle Nelson, The MCHS History Club maps the life of WM Carter!
Carter dedicated his life to the betterment of Marshall County, including his historic 1899 Map of Marshall County. Riding a bicycle across the county, Carter mapped every square mile of Marshall County, even interviewing and documenting the families, farms, and businesses. The Carter Map is still used to this day to varify century farms and is instrumental in historic research. Carter left his mark in Marshall.
We also spend a few minutes with our Senior Members of the History Club for our Senior Sendoff, spotlighting our Class of 2024 members and where they are headed next! We are so thankful for the contributions of Cade Wiggins, Gracie Stephens, Caiden Emmitt, Henry Pearson, 2024 Vice President Lyle Nelson, and 2024 Club President Teneal Alexander and wish them the greatest success as they move on to the next chapters in their lives!

Cornersville's Cindy Carley of SeaQuest Farms discusses the modern approach to goat farming. Chapter 3: Echoes of Connelly
Friday Apr 28, 2023
Friday Apr 28, 2023
One location in Lewisburg served the community as a site for the education of Marshall County students for over 100 years. From a run of private schools, to the birthplace of Marshall County High School.... However, most know this location as Connelly Middle School. The History Club investigated what made Connelly so special to so many in Lewisburg, but perhaps the best evidence is to just listen to stories that happened in the old hallways and classrooms. The memories and stories tell a history of a building that made an impact on so many people that spent time there learning and teaching. Walls can't talk... but maybe if we dig a little bit deeper and ask the right questions, those stories may still echo the halls of Connelly. This supersized episode hosted by MCHS students Lyle Nelson and Caiden Emmitt features contributions from several current and former educators as they recount stories from Connelly, including:
Mary Brewer
Ryan Henry
David Steely
Kevin Mcgehee
Jenna Wilson
Daniel Batey
Mike Reese
Lee Perryman
Kyle Stacey
Kathi Jo Martin
Dickie Adkins
Connie Page
Benita Villines
Jeanne Wiles
Frank Sullivan
MCHS Student Sam Johnson conducted a round table discussion with several former teachers from Connelly.
Caiden Emmitt sat down with Frank Sullivan for an interview about the connection that Connelly shared with his community outreach organization, HOPEtown.
Ellah Wilson also spoke with Director of Schools Jacob Sorrells for our Municipal Community Spotlight about the role a Director of Schools plays in the community.
